The exhibition “Of Voices and Stone” celebrates 200 years of friendship between the United States and Morocco, highlighting the long history of the American Legation in Tangier — the first U.S. diplomatic mission abroad, established in 1821.

Now on display at the Abderrahman Slaoui Foundation in Casablanca, the exhibition features a unique collection of cultural and historical items, including Jimi Hendrix’s boots, Lady Gaga’s dress, an Olympic gold medal, and a tribute to the film Casablanca.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Lawrence Randolph emphasized the exhibition’s goal of honoring people-to-people connections, and Casablanca’s key role in the relationship, especially during World War II. He also highlighted Morocco’s legacy of religious tolerance and the efforts of King Mohammed VI to strengthen bilateral ties.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a mural celebrating 200 years of U.S.–Moroccan friendship, set to be unveiled soon in Casablanca’s CIL district.
